Coming to counselling is both a process and a journey that can change your life. Counselling is a talking therapy that can help you to deal with emotional issues. Research shows that the most probable factor that can determine a successful outcome to therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist.
Please contact me to arrange your first session in which we will assess if we can work together to create the change that you want for yourself. Counselling will take place on a regular day and time that we agree and through the counselling medium that is chosen.
I have a vast amount of experience working with children and adults in a variety of settings. This includes supporting adults with mental health problems, learning disabilities, autism and limited verbal skills. I have a Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and work within an Integrative approach. I use several theories where appropriate because I believe that we are all unique individuals. Therefore more than one theory can best suit someone when guiding them within the therapeutic process to achieving change or to better understanding themselves.
As part of my training I began a voluntary placement with MIND. This is something that I continued once becoming a qualified Counsellor as I valued the importance of MIND as an organisation and the relationships that I had built with my clients. I have worked with many clients dealing with a variety of issues and clients that have mental health problems.
I provide a specialised therapeutic space for neurodivergent adults and veterans. My experience focuses on tailored strategies for sensory needs, cognitive processing, and reintegration. I also have experience working with clients through issues such as:
Anxiety
Depression
Bereavement
Anger
Relationships
Stress
Trauma
Sexuality
There are more areas and issues that can be explored within counselling. I will facilitate a safe space and help you to identify anything that is causing you upset or distress. A counsellor can explore issues with you and find ways to cope with the situation. This can include changing behaviours that contribute to a problem or to find a way to deal with a situation that may be beyond your control. Counselling can help you to take control of your own life and you will be accepted for who you are. You can express your feelings and come to terms with past or new experiences.
